Summary

Traditional fermentation systems are largely batch-based, resource-intensive, and require frequent downtime for harvesting and cleaning. These limitations reduce productivity, increase operational costs, and restrict the use of low-cost or waste-derived feedstocks. Additionally, conventional systems struggle with continuous product recovery and consistent process control, limiting scalability for advanced biomanufacturing applications.

This invention introduces a fermentation membrane bioreactor that integrates continuous microbial fermentation with ultrafiltration membrane separation. The system retains biomass while continuously extracting target products, enabling higher productivity and stable long-term operation. Its automated control architecture supports alternative feedstocks, improves process efficiency, and provides a flexible platform for pharmaceuticals, biochemicals, and sustainable biomanufacturing.
