3D Tripolar Antenna and Method of Manufacture

Tech ID: 17B177

Advantages:

  • Significantly reduces the size of wireless sensor nodes.
  • Improves communication reliability in multipath and depolarization conditions.
  • Minimizes energy consumption for enhanced efficiency in IoT systems.

Summary:

In the rapidly growing Internet of Things (IoT) and Industrial Internet sectors, reliable and efficient machine-to-machine (M2M) communication is crucial. However, wireless sensor nodes deployed in harsh environments often face significant challenges due to multipath interference, signal fading, and depolarization. Traditional methods like spatial diversity require bulky designs and are not suitable for compact installations, while frequency diversity adds complexity and is impractical for low-cost IoT systems.

Our innovative 3D tripolar antenna technology addresses these issues by utilizing additive manufacturing techniques to create a compact, efficient solution. By integrating three mutually orthogonal monopoles into the packaging of a wireless sensor node, our design leverages polarization diversity to improve communication link quality in challenging environments. This novel approach not only reduces size and energy consumption but also enhances reliability, making it ideal for industrial, commercial, and aerospace applications.
