Competitive Advantages
- Creates more interactivity in online asynchronous classes
- Allows for more personalized learning
- Keeps video answers so that future students may use them
Summary
Our inventor has developed a method for increased interaction in video learning over distance learning. This is accomplished by two functions in the lecture video. The first is that questions asked by other students show up and the professor’s response can be viewed if the student chooses to. If the student has a question that does not already have an answer, a button asks the professor a specific question about what is on screen. The professor can see where they are in the lecture and answer immediately if available or put the student will be notified that they are in a queue for a later answer. These answers can be live with the students recorded, using a virtual, or real whiteboard if necessary (good for math heavy classes). Each new video answering a question will be timestamped in the main lecture video and available for anyone to watch in the future should they need further examples. This method allows students to interact with the lectures more like they would during a live class, but still benefit from watching it at their convenience.
The "Show Answer" prompt brings up a video explaining a previous student's question
