Synthetic Vaginal Cuff Model and Method of Simulating Vaginal Cuff Closure

Tech ID: 15A054

Competitive Advantages

  •     Responds like human tissue
  •     Enhanced durability
  •     Reusable
  •     Anatomically correct
  •     Cost-effective

Summary

Our researchers have developed methods and apparatuses for modelling vaginal cuffs and simulating surgical procedures. The device is fabricated from a polymeric material and is embedded with a layer of mesh for enhanced durability. The polymeric material may be silicone, rubber and/or foam. The uterosacral ligaments extend from the lateral angles of the vaginal cuff, simulating the natural anatomical relationship seen in surgery. Further, there are suction cups on the aluminum base to prevent movement of the trainer during suturing.
