OFDM Reception Under High Adjacent Channel Interference While Preserving Frame Structure

Tech ID: 18A006

Competitive Advantages

  • Efficiently support various applications and wireless channel conditions
  • Improve the capacity of OFDM reception
  • Backward compatible with signals transmitted from legacy devices

Summary

USF has proposed a technology which exploits the characteristics of the Hanning window to improve the capacity of the OFDM reception. The Hanning window is used to reject the adjacent channel interference at the cost of intercarrier interference, and the introduced interference is canceled with proposed techniques while preserving frame structure. Gains can be made without modifying the transmitter hardware; however, proposed modifications that do not change the frame structure do allow higher gains. The technology can be implemented as part of future releases of the Long Term Evolution (LTE) standard and the upcoming 5G cellular and Wi-Fi standards.
