Competitive Advantages
- 12 m read range both on/off–metal
- Compact meshed design halves manufacturing time and cost
- Single device supporting both European (862-868 MHz) and American (902-928 MHz) ISM RFID UHF bands
Summary
USF researchers have developed RFID tags that perform well both on- and off-metal. The impedance matching to the RFID chip is achieved using two parallel stubs, enabling dual-band ISM RFID UHF operation. Additionally, meshed ground designs are used to reduce material costs and printing time while having a minimal effect on read range. RFID tags can be used in applications like tourist guides, access management, in-tire road condition transmission, toll collection, contactless payment, inventory, shipment, tracking, and many more.
