Summary

Teacher Education Institutions are required to adopt an assessment system that collects and analyzes data on applicant qualifications, candidate and graduate performance, and unit operations to evaluate and improve the unit and its programs. To do so, some institutions use paper based portfolios and others use electronic commercial portfolios that are either homegrown or bought off the shelf. Therefore, there is a need for a comprehensive solution that meets the requirements of teacher training education.

A new tool has been developed for collecting, analyzing student assessment data all in one database. FolioData allows individual candidates to create their own e-portfolio accessible form the web. The system also allows the candidates to upload their assignments in order to document their competence in each of the Florida Educator Accomplished Practices (FEAP), as well as English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) and enables the course instructors to perform evaluations. The assessment tools are used to collect and analyze candidate portfolios, test scores, and field placement data. They collect professional behavior assessment evaluations and Internship evaluations completed by university supervisors and co-operating teachers.
