Competitive Advantages
- Compact size
- Higher quality factor
- Significantly larger frequency reconfiguration range
Summary
USF inventors have developed RF filters in which frequency tuning is accomplished by movable microfluidic loads consisting of metal in either liquid or solid form. The highly linear nature of the tuning mechanism makes these novel filters well suited for high-power RF applications. The filter can be fabricated to be suitable for small applications. Frequency-agile band-pass filters offer the flexibility to implement reconfigurable RF receivers and transmitters that dynamically change the operation frequency. These band pass filters have narrow frequency range and are tunable. Additionally, they have the capability to handle high power. Bandpass filters are used in telephone service, seismology, sonar, even medical applications like electrocardiograms, EEGs, etc.
