Beta-Lactamase Inhibitor Compositions, Methods of Use, and Methods of Treatment

Tech ID: 11B156

Competitive Advantages

  • Can restore the efficacy of beta-lactam antibiotics
  • Overcomes antibiotic resistance
  • May help to develop new antibiotic treatment regimens
  • Treats multi-drug resistant organisms

Summary

Our researchers have developed compositions comprised of a beta-lactamase inhibitor and methods of use to treat various infections and diseases. These beta-lactamase inhibitors can be used to target multi-drug resistant organisms including MRSA. Further, these compounds may help to overcome microbial resistance to beta-lactam antibiotics by restoring the efficacy of the beta-lactam compounds that the microbe is resistant to. These inhibitors could be used to restore the activity of penicillin, cephalosporin and carbapenem against multi-drug resistant strains of bacteria. Therefore, it is appropriate to suggest that these novel compositions may be used to develop new antibiotic treatment regimens.
